One of the world's most famous sapphires, the birthstone of September, has been worn by not one, but two royal princesses! Lady Diana Spencer and Charles, Prince of Wales, became engaged in February 1981. Her engagement ring consists of 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a stunning 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-karat white gold. After Princess Diana's tragic death, the ring was passed down to her son William, who would give it to his bride-to-be, Kate Middleton, in the fall of 2010.
